Kwara School To Represent Nigeria At Youth Football Tourney In Denmark

The Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria has nominated the TAICO Sports Academy, a part of Thomas Adewumi International College, Oko, Kwara State, to represent Nigeria in an international youth football tournament in Denmark.

The team, which won the just concluded Chief of the Naval Staff Cup U-14 boys football tournament in Abuja, was expected to participate in the Dana Cup 2022 tourney in the category (B) of players born after January 1, 2008.

The YSFON in a letter to the TSA Chairman, Dr Johnson Adewumi, dated December 13, 2021, asked the management to submit before March 7, the international passports of the players; evidence of payment of N300,000 non-refundable administrative charges; a letter of intent from the state government or corporate bodies, and evidence of payment of affiliation fees.

The letter titled, ‘International championship for 2022,’ was signed by YSFON National Secretary, Patrick Okpavuerhe.

It read in part, “The National Executive Council of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria wishes to congratulate you for the wonderful performance of your state team, Thomas Adewumi International College, at the just concluded Chief of the Naval Staff Cup U-14 boys soccer tournament in Abuja.

“The Central Working Committee of YSFON, after due consideration, has given approval for your team to participate in an international youth soccer tournament in Denmark (Dana Cup 2022) for category ‘B’ players born after January 1, 2008.

“To avoid delay in processing your team’s travelling documents and for your official registration for the tournament, you are requested to submit the following to the national headquarters of YSFON on or before March 7, 2022.”
