Woman Nabbed While Dumping Lover’s Corpse In Bush

A 45-year-old woman, Aderonke Ayinde, was arrested Wednesday night while dumping the corpse of a man later identified as her lover in a bush in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The deceased, Asimiu Abiodun, was said to have died in his lover’s house under yet-to-be ascertained circumstances.

Spokesman for Ogun State Police Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest, explained that “her arrest followed a report lodged at Oke-Itoku Police Station by one Makinde Ishola, that he received information that a middle-aged man, whose name was later revealed as Asimiu Abiodun, came to visit the suspect at her 1, Asalu Compound, Abeokuta residence and that the said man died in the middle of the night in a questionable circumstance.

“He stated further that the suspect took the dead body to a nearby bush that night and dumped it there, unknown to her that somebody nearby was observing the whole thing.

“On the strength of the report, the DPO, Oke-Itoku Division, SP Olatoye Kotonu, led his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested and the corpse evacuated to the mortuary for autopsy.”

During interrogation, the suspect stated that the deceased took ill and gave up the ghost before she could administer help.

Asked why she disposed the body without contacting family members of the deceased, she claimed to have acted out of fear.

Oyeyemi further stated that family of the deceased had been contacted by the Police for proper identification.

He said: “The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, to take over the case for proper investigation and possible prosecution of the suspect.”
