Wizkid Shades Don Jazzy In Response To Statement Of Mavin Signee, Ladipoe

Grammy-winning Nigerian music star, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has ignited a social media storm with his sharp retort aimed at music mogul, Don Jazzy, while responding to a tweet by Mavin Records signee, Ladipoe.

The controversy began when Ladipoe posted a tweet hinting at a decline in the careers of Afro beats artistes.

He wrote, “Nigerian rappers that survived ‘hip hop is dead’ watching Afrobeat artists go through their own.”

The tweet caught the attention of a concerned X user who then directed Wizkid’s attention to it.

In response, Wizkid dismissed any possibility of engaging with artistes signed to ‘an influencer’ — a subtle jab at Don Jazzy, under whose label Ladipoe operates.

Wizkid’s tweet read, “lol never chatting to anyone signed to an influencer. Next.”

This subtle jab at Don Jazzy has since sparked a flurry of reactions and speculations within the music industry and among fans alike.

@lollypeezle: “I love this thing Wizkid did baje baje.

Now, no one can say he’s not a clout chaser too.
No one can say he’s always minding his business.
No one can say he doesn’t have anyone’s time.

He has shown he’s human too and it’s expected. I can’t wait for Olamide outburst too. 4 GOATs.”

@GucciStarboi wrote: Na influencer sign ladipo ke the Wizkid I know is back!!!

@dunniszn_ remarked: “This is a disrespect to Don jazzy sha. He’s bigger than you, and has raised more artistes than you have.”

@DanielRegha wrote, “Never chatting to anyone signed to an influencer”, but u collabed with Tiwa Savage (on Ma Lo) in 2017 while she was signed to Don Jazzy? Talk about d¤uble standards. Belittl!ng people is a sign of !nsecurity. Remember no-one knows tomorrow, a newbie today might revive ur career in the future. Talk smart.
