We Will Probe Amosun If Elected -Ogun Guber Candidates
Candidates vying for governorship position in Ogun State on Sunday vowed to probe the outgoing Governor of the state Senator Ibikunle Amosun except he succeeded in installing his preferred candidate, Abdul-Kabir Abiodun Akinlade of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) as successor.
The six governorship candidates in the state that featured at the live debate programme organised by the Ibadan Zonal management of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), held Sunday in Abeokuta, the state capital insisted that they must probe Governor Amosun.
The debate, tagged “2019 Big Debate”, had in attendance, governorship candidates of All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Dapo Abiodu; that of the United Democratic Party (UDP), Dr. Jackie Adunni Kassim as well as that of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), Demola Ogunbanjo.
Others included Eniola Otasanya Marting of Action Alliance Congress (AAC), Oluseyi Olowookere of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) as well as that of the YES Party (YP), Sina Kawonise.
Speaking at the live debate programme where the APM candidate, Akinlade was conspicuously absent, the APC candidate, Abiodun said Amosun may be called upon to explain some certain issues bothering on the debt profile of the state and award of contracts.
With particular reference to the non-remittance of cooperative deductions which has caused disaffection between government and civil servants in the state, Abiodun, who was represented at the event by his spokesperson, Hon. Remmy Hassan said that membership of the thrift society would be by voluntary as against compulsion witnessed under the outgoing administration.
In her contribution, the UDP guber candidate, Dr. Kassim emphatically declared that Amosun would need to guide her administration by explaining spending on the disused Model Schools constructed by Amosun’s administration without adding any value to the state.
Speaking on the involvement of the People Living With Disability (PLWD), Kassim said she would within the first six months of assuming government in Ogun, implement the already existing legal framework which the 6th state House of Assembly had passed into law.
“Presently, I have 468, 000 of People Living With Disability currently working with me in my NGO as well as in my campaign train. Therefore, I will involve them by implementing the already existing legal framework in the state”.
