Unpaid Salaries: Ex-leadership Staff Heads For Court
Nine former staff of Leadership newspapers, Hassan Gimba Ahmed, Yerima David Hosea, Stella Ufuoma Fuoye, Aina Michael Olasehinde, Otegbayo Babatope Joseph, Chika Nnabuike Otuchikere, Onah Theophilus Chinonye, Muhammed Jamil Yusuf and Mrs Nike Mubo Oluwole have, through their lawyer, Hassan M. Liman, PhD, SAN, given the company seven days from today, 23/12/2017, within which to pay their “cumulative salaries in arrears, and all their pension deductions amounting to N14,007,287.45k”.
The letter, from Hassan Liman’s Chamber, Liman, Liman & Co warned the company that “if at the expiration of the seven days’ grace period indicated in this letter, you failed and/or neglected to comply, we shall be left with no option than to carry out our client’s further instruction to enforce all the machineries of law against your organisation without further notice”.
Leadership newspaper and its publisher, Sam Nda-Isaih were recently taken to court by Mr Durojaiye Hassan, a former Director, Advert and Special Projects, over a financial issue basically emanating from unpaid salaries. Mr Hassan is claiming N500,000,0000 as damages.
Only recently, there was judgment enforcement of N100,000,000 on the publisher and the company by Senator Isa Mohammed during which valuables from the newspapers’ premises in Utako and some vehicles from the publisher’s house were confiscated.
