Two Dead, Seven Injured In U.S. Bar Shooting
Two people were killed and seven injured in a shooting that happened at a bar near downtown Miami, the United States, early Saturday morning.
USA Today reported that Miami-Dade Police Department was called at about 3:30 am Saturday to a report of a brawl at the Martini Bar in the City Place centre in Doral.
The suspect was located by a security guard who tried to de-escalate the situation, police said.
The suspect then shot and killed the security guard and a responding police officer killed the suspect, according to a press conference held by the Miami Dade Police Department.
In the gunfire exchange, another officer sustained a gunshot wound alongside at least six other people – five men and one woman, Miami-Dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said during the conference.
Zabaleta also said two victims were taken to trauma centers and listed in critical condition, while the remaining four were stable.
“At the present time we do know that two officers of the City of Doral Police Department did discharge their firearm, but as I mentioned, only one was injured by gunfire,” Zabaleta said.
“The Florida Department of Law Enforcement continues to talk to all witnesses that are here in order to be able to gather all the details.”
Investigators are working to find what caused the altercation.
