Trump: Victory for true democracy, vote for change – Madumere

The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, on Thursday said Donald Trump’s victory in Tuesday’s presidential election in the US was victory for true democracy and vote for change.
Madumere told the News Agency of Nigeria in an interview in Abuja that Americans had by the election result demonstrated to the world their yearning for shift from established political personalities to ordinary persons.
He said: “This is the first time in history of the union that a person without previous political portfolio won the presidency.
“In the past, presidential elections were almost won by persons as former senator, governor or any other political portfolio.”
Madumere congratulated Trump on the victory, saying that the verdict was a referendum on Barack Obama’s administration.
He said that Americans were tired of the same status quo, which they expressed by disappointing pollsters.
Madumere said that the president-elect would succeed in the implementation of policies because his political party was in the control of the Senate and House of Representatives.
He said: “This is the first time when a president is having his own political party in control of the Congress and Senate in America at same the time.”
The deputy governor urged Nigerians to learn from America the attitude of “deciding who governs them without pressure from any quarter”.
He expressed optimism of a better and prosperous America with the president-elect.
