Tourism: Monarch Plead For Enabling Environment
The Akinla of Erin Ijesa in Oriade local government area of Osun State, Oba (Dr) Isaac Adeyemi Ayeni has appealed to government at all levels to create enabling environment for the Olumirin waterfall in Erin Ijesa to thrive.
The monarch during a chat with newsmen in his palace at Erin-Ijesa at the weekend lamented the under utilization of the tourism centre that ought to provide enormous socio-economic benefits to the people and government alike.
According to him, all that is required to optimise the benefit of the waterfall are the provision of adequate security, hospital, good road, electricity, creating easy access to landmark and historical spots and other incentive that would attract tourists and encourage investors.
The monarch who also pleaded with government to release the monument to the community to manage vowed to turn things around the moment that was done adding that government will even benefit the more.
He posited that government has no business in tourism especially with the current handling of the sector nationwide saying that if released to communities and investors to manage, the spillover will be great.
Oba Ayeni regretted that efforts made in the past to make government realize the need to develop the waterfall has proved abortive and therefore pleaded passionately private investors to collaborate with government to ensure maximum benefit from the natural endowment.
The monarch lamented the lack of provision for rural communities to access the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination adding that such an important opportunity should be provided without stress to the general public for the desired goal to be realized.
