Three Arrested As Man Stab Another To Death At Ogun Party
A man simply identified as Abubakar was stabbed to death following an argument that ensued between him and another at a birthday party in the Halleluyah Quarter, Ibafo area of Obafemi Owode is a Local Government Area of Ogun State.
It was also gathered that three people have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command in connection with the incident.
When reporters visited the Ibafo Police Station on Saturday morning, he observed that outside the station was crowded with people, including commercial motorcyclists.
Some women, including the wife and other relatives and friends of the deceased, were seen crying outside the police station.
An eyewitness said that the deceased was killed by one Anuoluwapo, adding that they had a similar fight a week before the incident.
“I just spoke with them inside the station. The DPO has directed that they put Baba Jaye and Jase that the incident happened in his place inside the cell. It was a little issue that started last week. They started the fight last week. I just pity the wife. You can see how she is crying. The issue that caused all this was minor and does not worth it.
Another source said, “They fought four days ago, and I was the one that separated them. I was surprised to hear that Abu had been killed. I heard that he was stabbed in his armpit. It is a delicate part of the body.”
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident.
She said, “It is a case of suspected murder. I am reliably informed that it happened on the 19th of April. We received a call a few minutes before midnight from someone from one Glory Hospital that someone they didn’t know was rushed to their hospital with another person they didn’t know who was injured.
“They noticed that they brought him in the dead. Policemen rushed to the scene, and three suspects were arrested. During the interrogation, it was discovered that one Nafiu Yusuf, a 35-year-old male from Halleluyah quarters, was the one who organised a birthday party for his daughter and invited his friends.”
Speaking further, she said, “It was while they were having the party that a fight erupted between Dada Sulaiman, a male, 32 years old, and another person. The prime suspect is one Abubakar who died.
“They stabbed him in his stomach with a broken bottle based on the argument that erupted and the deceased died on the spot. He has been deposited to the hospital for autopsy. We know that cases like this cannot be handled by the division level, very soon they will be transferred.”
“It was caused by intoxication on a suspected substance maybe alcohol but we don’t know yet. We always warn about the dangers of people having free drinks. It is a case of anger management, temperament, and emotional intelligence. If you cannot manage alcohol, don’t drink.”
