Three Political Parties Form Alliance To Resist Inducement, Intimidation
Three front line political parties in the September 22 governorship election in Osun State have formed alliance to resist any form of inducement or intimidation that might arise during the election.
The candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Senator Iyiola Omisore who at a press briefing in Osogbo Thursday named the parties as the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Action Democratic Party and Social Democratic Party said the three parties have uncovered plans by the ruling party to use whatever means to rig the election.
According to him, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Alhaji Fatai Akinbade and Alhaji Moshood Adeoti of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) had resolved to resist any kind of inducement and also ensure that Osun election is devoid of any malpractice.
Omisore alleged that the ruling party in the state might want to make voters act according to their desire on election day called on voters not to be intimidated when exercising their franchise on Saturday.
“I want to tell the people to be ready to defend their votes, not allow themselves to be harassed, intimidated or letting people create fear in them.
“The three major opposition parties, SDP, ADC, ADP had signed and agreed to ensure that there is free, fair and credible election in the state.
“The people of the state should go out en-mass and cast their votes freely without fear or intimidation, and also stand by their votes.
“We charge the people to be vigilant and resist election malpractice as we, as parties, have also changed our agents to be very vigilant at the polling units.
“We have also come to learn that a certain political party intend to use some of it’s youths to infiltrate INEC ad-hoc staff and we urge the people and our party agents to be be on a lookout and be vigilant.”
Omisore said the peaceful conduct of the election on Saturday rest with INEC and security agents, urging the election umpires to remain apolitical and prevent election malpractice.
