Disengaged 1500 Teachers Plead For Reinstatement In Osun
No fewer than 1,500 teachers disengaged from service by Osun State government have pleaded to Governor Ademola Adeleke for reinstatement.
The teachers at a press conference addressed by Owoyemi Abdulwasiu, noted that their appointments by the immediate past administration of Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola followed due process.
Governor Adeleke had in his inaugural speech announced the disengagement of the teachers who were appointed at the twilight of Oyetola’s administration and set up a committee to review their appointments.
Owoyemi who stated succinctly the process that led to their subsequent appointment noted that out of multitude of applicants who sat for qualifying test and interviewed, 2,500 applicants were shortlisted for appointment.
“It was then learnt from the Offices of the Governor, Commissioner of Education at the verge of being called for the Employment that the Issuance of the Appointment Letters will be in Batches.
“The 1st Batch of Recruitment cum Appointment dated February/March, 2022 was done for 1,000 Teachers comprising of both primary and secondary Schools; and that was prior to the July 17th Governorship Election with circular to recruit the remaining 1,500 Teachers subsequently of which we fall into such category”.
He lamented the demise of four of them consequent upon their sudden disengagement adding that some of them who were already employed somewhere else before the appointment had lost such opportunity.
Reacting, the Special Assistant to the governor on Community Communications, Tunde Busari insisted that no amount of blackmail can change the reality that those allegedly employed illegally by former Governor Gboyega Oyetola are no longer in the employment of the state government.
Mr Tunde Busari, noted that Mr Oyetola deliberately padded the state payroll with APC members to create stage for deeper financial crisis, conflict and disharmony.
