Scores killed As Gunmen Attack Taraba Community
Scores of persons were feared killed after gunmen attacked Garin Baka community in Ardo-Kola Local Council of Taraba State.
Though the police command could not ascertain the official number of casualties at the time of filing this report, it was gathered that no fewer than 15 persons were killed in the attacks that occurred on Friday.
Confirming that there was an attack in the community, the Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), Abdullahi Usman, said the command was still expecting the official figures of casualties from the Police Divisional Headquarters of the council.
Source, said the attackers, who invaded the community at about 7.30 pm, on Friday, killed several people.
They also claimed that several persons were left with gunshot injuries, as houses and domestic animals, including cows, were set ablaze by the attackers, who were shooting sporadically.
A resident, Yakubu Garba, said, apart from the killings and gunshot injuries, several persons, especially women and children, were still missing.
Another source said: “We barely finished breaking our fasting, and we were in the mosque praying when we started hearing gunshots from different corners of our community…”
