Siblings At War Over Alleged Sales Of Family House
*Exhuming parents corpses in Osun
The Osun State Police command has begun an investigation into alleged sales of a building belonging to the late Mr Azeez Rauf by his eldest son Mutiu as well as the exhumation of the bodies of the father and mother.
It was gathered that the house located around Dada Estate of Osogbo, Osun State capital, sold by the suspect generated a rift between him and his siblings.
The siblings confronted the suspect after selling the house without consulting them and also accused him of exhuming their parents’ bodies buried within the house.
The riffles, according to a source in the area, started when one of the children, Mrs Adedoyin Rukayat, one of the children, discovered that the family property had been sold by Mutiu.
Apart from selling the house, Rukayat, who spoke to journalists, also alleged that her brother exhumed the remains of their parents without informing or consulting other children; Rukayat, Fatimo, Khadijat, Teslim, and Qouadr Rauf.
She then reported the incident at Dada Estate Police Station in Osogbo, which led to the arrest of Mutiu on December 31, 2024
Findings revealed that policemen, who stormed the premises to arrest the suspect stopped further exhumation of their mother’s remains after the corpse of Late Azeez Rauf had already been drugged out from the grave and ordered the return of both bodies to their original locations, behind the premises and arrested Rauf.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Osun State Police Command, CSP Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident, saying Rauf was arrested but later granted bail.
She explained that “the matter is being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). The suspect is on bail now because the offence is bailable. The investigation is still ongoing. But if they are unable to resolve the matter amicably, the matter will be charged to court.”
