Shina Peters, Blackface, Others Mourn Demise Of Ras Kimono
Veteran musicians and other stakeholders in the nation’s entertainment industry have expressed their sadness and disbelief over the sudden demise of the reggae music artiste, Ras Kimomo who died on Sunday.
Afrojuju musician, Sir Shina Peters said he was saddened to hear about his death.
According to him, he was shocked to hear the sad news, noting that Kimono was among those that recently graced his 60th birthday.
“I am shocked to hear that my friend Kimono is dead. He was such a lively person and he came for my birthday at the Federal Palace hotel. He wasn’t really sick and I am surprised to hear that Kimono is dead. How sad! O death where is thy sting? Ras kimono will be missed for he was a bridge builder. We all should remember that this life is for a season and we should spend it wisely,’ says SSP.
Reports had it that the veteran singer, Kimono was to travel to the United States last night.
He complained of not feeling too well and was rushed to a hospital in Ikeja, Lagos and then later taken to Lagoon Hospital in the Island.
Defunct Plantashun member, Blackface stated that he will surely be missed and that society will remember him for his music.
“It’s really sad to lose Ras Kimono at this time that the young ones should be learning from him. We shall join him some day. It’s quite sad that he died at this time when social conscious music is at his lowest ebb.
On how he should be remembered, his records are there to show. Ras Kimono was a simple man and passionate about reggae music. The society always forgets these role models until, they die and we begin to pass encomiums on them.
Ras Kimono was popular for Reggae music and had great hits in the 90’s. His debut album, Under Pressure was a jam and was socially accepted everywhere.
