Resume Or Resign Protest Turns Sour As Police Tear gas Groups
The daily sit-out protest embarked upon by some groups demanding that President Muhammadu Buhari resumes or resigns if incapable of continuing his duties as president has turned sour as one of the protesters got wounded when the Police, Tuesday, shot tear gas at them.
The protest which began Monday turned violent Tuesday while the protesters were observing their sit-out at the Millennium Park opposite the Unity Fountain, Maitama, Abuja when armed policemen fired tear gas canisters to disperse them.
But members of the group, not deterred by the police action, continued with their meeting which force the police suddenly shot another round of tear gas canisters that got one of them wounded.
The wounded protester was taken to a clinic at the Federal Secretariat complex, a few kilometres away from the scene of the incident.
Sit-out protests in Nigeria and London led by Charley Boy and other prominent Nigerians was meant to demand Buhari’s return or resignation.
The President has been in London since May 7 for a medical treatment of an ailment which has not been disclosed to Nigerians till date.
