Ramadan: Indomie To Feed 2m Muslims
To commemorate the on-going Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Indomie instant noodles said it has targeted the feeding of two million Muslims as the company makes available a number of mobile kitchens in Central Mosques across the country.
According to the company, the move will enable them serve special Indomie delicacies after evening prayers throughout the Ramadan period.
The Group Public Relations Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Mr. Tope Ashiwaju, said, the company is identifying with Muslims as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by serving Indomie meals for ‘Iftar’ (Evening Break) at various popular central Mosques across the country during the 30 days fasting period which began on May 27, 2017.
“Our aim is to continuously ensure we contribute to sustainable development, poverty reduction, cater to the vulnerable and general populace as well as contribute to the well-being of our consumers. So once again, as the Ramadan season progresses, having an understanding of what the month depicts as a period of discipline, prayer and worship to God Almighty, we decided as a brand to support our Muslim brothers with this gesture,” Ashiwaju said.
Speaking on the logistics of distribution, he said, “Already, we have identified several mosques in cities across the country where freshly prepared Indomie will be freely served at the time of breaking the fast at each of these mosques on a daily basis. A mosque per day is set with everything put in place to ensure that everyone present at the mosque is served immediately after evening prayers.”
He added that Indomie as the leading Noodles brand in Nigeria believes strongly in connecting with its consumers through varied engagement platforms and that the month of Ramadan provides such unique opportunity to connect with and engage the Muslim consumers during the 30 days fasting period.
Ashiwaju also revealed that the council of Imams in various locations across the country have given their support to ensure the success of the exercise.
The exercise is expected to last throughout the Ramadan season in all central Mosques across the country.
