Police Raid Lekki, Ikorodu, Arrest 56 Suspected Cultists
Operatives of Lagos State Police Command attached to Elemoro Division have arrested suspected cultists at Imalete Alafia, Ibeju Lekki.
The suspects are Joshua Ubokuho, Emmanuel Yusuf, and Adewale Hammed.
According to Lagos State police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, 50 suspected armed robbers and cultists were nabbed at Imota, Igbokuta, Adamo and Emure in Ikorodu area of the state during a sting operation carried out by the Commissioner of Police Strike Force between Friday March 5 and Sunday March 7, 2021.
Three of the suspects were arrested with some charms and weapons, including two cutlasses marked ‘zero 4,’ which is the mark on the suspects.
According to Adejobi, “This mark has been subjected to investigation to get more information about the suspects and their group. The police have also recovered their operational bus.
“In the same vein, CP Hakeem Odumosu has scheduled a meeting with the Area commanders and divisional police officers for Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at the POWA Hall, Oduduwa, Ikeja, to review the anti-crime strategies of the command with a view to solidifying the security architecture of Lagos State
“He has also ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State CID, Panti, to take over the suspects and ensure their quick trial and prosecution of other cases under investigation at the SCID as the command has a duty to maintain law and order and public safety in the state.”
The Commissioner of Police has promised to take the anti-crime fight of the command to the den of hoodlums in Lekki and Ajah areas of the state.
He emphasised identifying and raiding dens of the ‘bad boys’ who have been terrorising the people of Lekki, Ajah, Badore, Sangotedo, Elemoro, Ibeju-Lekki and Akodo.
He added: “The 38 male and twelve 12 female suspects include Oladunni Abiodun, 20, Dosumu Oluwaseun, 22, Segun Adelaja, 29, Gbamila Iyabo, 26, wife of the Number 1 of Aye Confraternity in Igbokuta, arrested with one pump action loaded with 8 rounds of cartridges, Salisu Islamiyat, 29, wife of the Number 1 of Aye Confraternity in Emure, arrested with a locally-made pistol with some live cartridges, Abiodun Abbey, aka Oju Ogunle, alleged to have killed more 22 people in Ikorodu area, and 44 others.
“Other items recovered from them included guns, live ammunition and cartridges, assorted charms, berets with Confraternity logos, paraphernalia of office of Confraternity and some dangerous weapons”.
The police boss has ordered prompt investigation and prosecution of the cases as necessary arrangements have been made by the Lagos State Government to consistently Fastrack judicial processes in the state.
