NCPC To Mobilise 10,000 Nigerians For Christian pilgrimage Next Year

About 10,000 pilgrims would be mobilised to perform the Christian pilgrimage in the Holy Land next year, the Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC, Rev. Yakubu Pam said.

Rev. Pam made this known while addressing a media parley in Lagos Wednesday.

He said that the commission had embarked on visits to some states to re-awakening the spirit of sponsoring indigent Nigerians on holy pilgrimage.

Rev Pam said that 2,000 participants have already signified their intention to perform the exercise adding more would do so before February next year.

He also said that the commission is in talks with the Israeli government in establishing direct flight between Nigeria and Tel Aviv.

‘My discussion so far with Israeli government has been fruitful. The only aspect that we have not fully resolved is their request to have their security agents on board the flights which the Nigerian government rejected but they are to come to Nigeria to inspect our airports and access what we have on ground.’

He said that Israel as a nation is taking the fight against the spread of COVID 19 seriously, hence it had shut its doors on 29th November 2021 to prevent entry into Israel by foreigners.

The ban according to him, “Is to prevent the spread of COVID 19 Omicron virus that was discovered in South Africa recently.

The NCPC boss also informed them that the Commission would embarked on the State of Readiness visit to Israel and Jordan next year to ascertain the level of preparedness by the host countries and also inspect facilities at the Holy Sites and Hotels.
