Onoja Condemns Attack On Agojelu-odo, Other Communities In Kogi
Mr Abraham John Onoja has condemned in strongest terms the brutal massacre of innocent citizens in Agojeju – Odo and other communities of Omala Local Government Area, Kogi State and calls on both the Federal and State Government to take immediate action to mitigate such occurrence and restore normalcy to the troubled community.
In a statement issued in Lokoja, the state Capital, Onoja condemned the killing and destruction that took place as inhuman, ungodly, unconstitutional, and certainly not acceptable by all standards.
‘’ I strongly condemn the recent spate of gruesome killings and destruction that have occurred in Agojeju – Odo and other communities within the Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State. I am deeply saddened and horrified by the senseless loss of innocent lives and the atrocities committed against the residents of these communities’’
‘’ The reported incident of violence, which have resulted in the loss of lives, destruction of property, and displacement of families, are deplorable and unacceptable. Such acts of violence not only inflict immense suffering on the affected communities but also threaten the peace, security, and stability of the region’’
‘’ I stand in solidarity with the people of Agojeju – Odo and other affected communities during this difficult time and extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and express my deepest sympathy to those who have been injured or traumatized by these tragic events.’’
‘’ I call on the relevant authorities, including law enforcement agencies and government officials, to conduct a thorough investigation into the perpetrators of these heinous crimes and ensure that they are swiftly brought to justice. It is imperative that measures are taken to prevent further violence, protect the safety and security of all residents, and restore peace and stability to the affected community.’’
‘’ I urge all stakeholders, including community leaders, civil society organizations, religious institutions, and the wider public, to join hands in condemning violence in all its forms and working together towards building a more peaceful and inclusive society for all’’ Onoja added.
In addition, Onoja emphasized the safety and security of all citizens must be prioritized, and decisive action is necessary to restore peace and stability to the affected communities and remain committed to advocating for peace, justice, and the protection of citizens in Nigeria
