Omisore Dumps PDP Over Osun 2018 Governorship Polls

Former deputy governor and gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 gubernatorial election in Osun State, Senator Christopher Iyiola Omisore has dumped the party.

This  was revealed to journalists on Thursday by Dr. Bayo Faforiji, a factional leader of the party at the end of a meeting held in Osogbo.

Faforiji said his faction cannot be guaranteed level playing ground at the forthcoming gubernatorial party primary following the perceived support for the other faction of the party by the National Executive Council of the party.

He however declined to mention the party the faction will be joining, adding that the party will be made known at the end of the month.

Omisore, a former Chairman, Appropriation committee of the red chamber who is currently nursing the ambition to become the governor of Osun State has taken steps at various times to achieve his ambition.

However, the Osun State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party Hon Soji Adagunodo has described as hasty, needless and unfortunate the decision of Omisore to dump the party at this time.

He expressed surprise at the conduct of the party members who allegedly burnt PDP flag Thursday in spite of several efforts being made by leaders of the party at the National and state levels to reconcile them with the mainstream of the party.

Adagunodo reminded Otunba Omisore of the fact that it was the PDP that God used to save him from political annihilation in the Alliance for Democracy and subsequently made him a ranking senator of the Federal Republic who rose to become the chairman of the Appropriation committee of the higher legislative chamber.

He advised the former Deputy Governor not to fall for the antics of the ruling APC which is desperately seeking to hold on to every flimsy straw in its quest to divide the party and manipulate the electorate.

Adagunodo however urged the teeming members and supporters of the PDP in Osun state to remain calm and focus on the ultimate target of winning the next governorship election and restoring the state back to its prosperous path beginning from November this year.
