Obasanjo To Deliver Bowen University Convocation Lecture
Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is to deliver the Convocation lecture at the 16th convocation ceremony of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Joshua Ogunwole who gave “The Nation and the Private University System: Bowen University as Case study” as the theme for Obasanjo’s lecture further disclosed that the Ebola heroine, late Dr. Stella Adadevoh would be awarded post humour Doctor of Science in Public Health at the ceremony.
Briefing newsmen on activities for the convocation ceremonies on Tuesday at the university campus Ogunwole disclosed that no fewer than 1,014 students will graduate from the seven colleges of the institution with varying classes of degrees for the 2020/21 academic session
He listed B.Sc Cyber Security, B.Sc Architecture, M. Sc Plant Biology as part of thirteen newly accredited and approved programmes for the University.
He added that National University Commission, NUC in the last accreditation exercise gave full accreditation status to programmes in MB, BS, International Relations, and Personnel Management Nursing Science, Anatomy and Microbiology.
On discipline on campus, Prof. Ogunwole said the university has zero tolerance for indolence, drug addiction and any ungodly attitudes adding that Bowen University is a city set on a high place that cannot be hidden.
As part of efforts at giving back to the host community, the VC disclosed that the institution sunk a borehole for the Tahwun Islamic village in Iwo, purchased and refurbished bus for Oluwo-in-council among numerous others.
