Nationwide Strike Action: OAU In Partial Compliance
Osun State University Osogbo and its campuses are currently on semester break, it was gathered that academic work remained partially grounded on Wednesday at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
The chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Chapter Tony Odiwe had on Tuesday confirmed that members complied to the order of their leaders on the strike.
Also, Comrade Ademola Junaid, the branch Secretary, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) said that they were part of the nationwide indefinite strike
However, skeletal work continued on the school campus yesterday as students were seen receiving lectures in some classes while some students complained of non availability of their lectures.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Abiodun Olarewaju who spoke in his office said: “As you can see, I’m in my office and you can also see others carrying out their official duties”.
A student, Bola Adeagbo who claimed to have received lecture earlier in the day called for quick resolution to the impasse adding that the issues at hand should be resolved amicably between labour and government.
