Native Doctor’s Apprentice Arrested Over Minor’s Death
The Delta State Police Command has arrested a native doctor’s apprentice, Destiny Ogbeh, for his involvement in the killing of an eight-year-old boy, Progress Agidi, for ritual purposes.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, disclosed this on Wednesday via his X handle.
According to him, the suspect lured the minor to his master, a native doctor, who brutally murdered the young boy in an uncompleted building.
He wrote, “He works as an apprentice for a native doctor. Another native doctor friend told him to bring a small boy for him, that he wanted to take something from him. The suspect, Destiny, lured his neighbour’s child, aged eight years and took him to the native doctor, who took the eight-year-old boy to an uncompleted building, cut his throat, and drained out his blood. Poor child has gone just like that.”
During his confession in a video attached to Edafe’s post, Destiny Ogbeh revealed that his master had instructed him to find a minor.
He however claimed to have deceived the deceased by asking for help to fetch firewood and then took him to the native doctor.
He said, “He asked me to find a small boy for him. The boy’s house is at the A4 Junction and I go there to buy things. When I saw him, I told him to help me to fetch firewood. So, the man came to carry us with his machine (motorcycle) to an uncompleted building. He asked me to stay where he parked his machine and he went into the building with the boy. Later, someone saw me standing there and I had to quickly leave and by the time I returned, I did not see the man again.”
Ogbeh added that upon his return, he discovered that the boy had been murdered and immediately fled the scene before he later reported himself to the police.
Meanwhile, Edafe said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the native doctor identified simply as Jonah.
