41 Indigent Persons Benefit From N3.7m NASFAT Zakat/Sadaqah Empowerment
The Nasrul-lahi-li Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) Zakat and Sadaqah Committee, Kaduna Branch, said 41 indigent persons benefit from its 2023 annual zakat distribution and empowerment programme.
The Chairman, Zakkat/Sadaqah committee, Nasfat, Kaduna Branch, Abdulrazaq Zulkainain, on Sunday in Kaduna, said for the year 2023 , the committee generates N3,705,513 which will be distributed to 41 vulnerable persons with empowerment items.
He listed some of the items to be distributed as deep Freezers, Grinding Machines, Sewing Machines, Provisions, Food Stuffs, Chemical Spraying Machine, Fertilizers, Payment of debts, Medical bills Payment, amongst others.
According to the chairman, the aim of distributing empowerment equipment and materials is to reawaken the commandment of Almighty Allah and Sunnah of His Messenger.
“Through Zakkat/Sadaqah committee activities, we have been able to bridge the gap between the rich and the less privileged in the Society,” he said.
While calling on the beneficiaries to always be sincere in whatever they do, the group also called on the Kaduna state government to partner with NASFAT in the area of palliatives which would be distributed among the indigents to cushion the effects of the current economic situation.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Akeem Adenijir, Kaduna Banch Chairman, NASFAT, enjoined Muslims who have the means to pay zakat, as instructed by Allah among the five pillars of Islam.
He noted that the payment of Zakat is compulsory for Muslims who have the means to do so
He added that the importance of Zakkat can never be over emphasized because parts of the benefits attached to giving Zakkat are enormous.
He further charged Muslims who have the means, to pay zakat, adding that doing so reduces poverty among the people.
The Chairman also appeal to the beneficiaries and recipients of the empowerment to make good use of the materials so that they can also part of the people that would pay Zakkat next year.
Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe assured Nafsat of Kaduna State’s Government support in carrying out its activities.
Represented by Muktar Zubairu, Special Assistant to the Kaduna state governor on Non governmental Organization (NGO), Balarabe said the doors of the State government will always be open to offer its supports.
She urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items given to them, adding that there is also the need for a feedback mechanism to ensure that beneficiaries use the items given to them well.
On her part, former Kaduna State Commissioner for Humanitarian Services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Baba, described NASFAT as an association that is committed to supporting the less privileged in the society
Baba also called on all to continue to contribute and also support people with disability in the state.
