 Motorcyclist Docked Over Attempt To Rape Passenger In Osun
An Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife on Monday, docked a motorcyclist, Leye Adebayo, 35, over alleged attempted to rape his passenger.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of rape slammed on him.
Emmanuel said that the motorcyclist conducted himself in a manner that may likely cause a great breakdown of law and order by intended to rape her 35-year-old woman passenger ‘names withheld’.
He added that the offence contravened section 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Okoh Micheal, pleaded for the bail of the defendant in most liberal term saying that his client would not jump bail but would produce substantial sureties and stand his case.
Magistrate A. A. Adebayo, granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.
Adebayo added that the surety must swear to an affidavit of means, resides within the court jurisdiction, among other bail conditions as he adjourned the case until July 16, for hearing
