Ministerial List: Tinubu Has Short-changed Ogun -Eddy Aina
The nomination of Olawale Edun for a ministerial position amounts to short-changing Ogun State by President Bola Tinubu, a prolific public commentator and news analyst, Mr. Eddy Aina, has declared.
Wale Edun is believed to be representing Ogun State on the ministerial list.
According to Eddy Aina, Ogun had never been short of suitable technocrats from which the president could have made his choice.
His words: “Wale Edun is a Lagos man, though hails from Ogun. Wale Edun has lived his entire life practically in Lagos as a Lagos boy….
“We don’t even know where Wale Edun is from in Ogun State.”
Aina stressed that the president would do well to include bonafide Ogun State indigene on the coming list of 11 nominees.
Edun has been described as an experienced financial expert with experience in the banking sector.
He is said to possess a good background in economics, public finance, international finance, merchant finance and corporate finance locally and internationally.
He was the Lagos State Commissioner for Finance from 1999 to 2007.
It would be recalled that Tinubu sent to the Senate for consideration and confirmation, the list of his ministerial nominees on Thursday.
The list made up of 28 nominees was delivered by Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, in a letter to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
The Senate President who read the letter at the plenary, gave the names of the nominees as Abubakar Momoh; Ambassador Yusuf Miatama Tukur; Arch. Ahmed Dangiwa; Barr. Hannatu Musawa; Chief Uche Nnaji; Dr. Berta Edu; Dr. Dorris Aniche Uzoka; David Umahi and Nyesom Wike.
Also on the list are Badaru Abubakar; Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai; Ekperipe Ekpo; Nkiru Onyeojiocha; Olubunmi Tunji Ojo; Stella Okotette; Uju Kennedy Ohaneye; Mr. Bello Muhammad G; Mr. Dele Alake; Mr. Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); Mr. Muhammad Idris and Mr. Olawale Edun.
Others are Mr. Waheed Adebayo Adelabu; Mrs Iman Suleiman Ibrahim; Professor Ali Pate; Professor Joseph; Senator Abubakar Kyari; Senator John Eno and Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi.
The president said the letter was “in compliance to the provision of the section 147 sub section 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.”
He added that “While hoping that the additional nominations will be sent in due course I hope that the aforementioned nominees will receive the expeditious consideration and confirmation of the Senate.”
