Man 42, Impregnates 16 – Years Old Daughter In Ogun
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 42-year-old man, Taofeek Oyeyemi for allegedly impregnating and terminating about two months old pregnancy for his 16 – years old biological daughter.
Oyeyemi, the father of 17 children from different women, was said to have procured the termination of abortion for his own daughter through a quack doctor, which resulted in the girl’s continuous bleeding.
The command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta, the state capital said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday this week following a complaint lodged at the Ewekoro Divisional headquarters of the police by the victim’s mother.
It was learnt that the victim had been living with her mother until about six months ago when the suspect forcefully took custody of the girl.
According to the PPRO, all efforts made by the mother to take custody of her daughter proved abortive until when the woman visited her daughter last Wednesday “and discovered the great atrocity committed by the suspect against her daughter”.
PPRO explained that the girl’s mother had approached the police station wherein, she complained that her daughter who has been living with her ex-husband informed her that she was impregnated by her father and took her to a quack medical practitioner for abortion.
“On the strength of the report, the DPO Ewekoro division, SP Rotimi Jeje detailed his JWC section to go after the suspect and he was eventually arrested. The suspect confessed to have slept with the victim several times which resulted in her pregnancy. But in order for his secret not to be exposed, he decided to take the girl for abortion”.
Oyeyemi however, explained that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson has directed that the suspect be transferred to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and prosecution.
