Osun 2018: Omisore Takes Charge Of SDP, As Faforiji Emerges New Chairman
Former factional chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Osun state, Dr. Bayo Faforiji has emerged the new state chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) while Mr. Bello Akeem also became the secretary of the party at the state Congress held in Osogbo.
The 39 member executive committee were unanimously affirmed by all the 3,890 delegates drawn from the 30 local governments areas including Ife East area office of the state.
Faforiji was the only candidate that stood for the election, supervised by Amba Ajah, the chairman Osun SDP electoral committee and officials of Independent National Electoral Commissione (INEC) led by Mrs Folake Agboola.
Speaking shortly after taking oath of office, administered on him by Barrister Sunday Ojo-Williams, Faforiji declared the readiness of the SDP to win September 22 governorship election.
He said those aggrieved would be persuaded to join efforts to reposition SDP to make it a formidable force ahead of governorship election.
Faforiji also commended members of the party in the state, INEC representatives, SDP electoral panel and other stakeholders for their commitment, saying their cooperation led to the peaceful conclusion of the local and state Congress of the party.
Calling for a united front to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Faforiji urged aggrieved members to shield their sword and unite with the new State Executive Committee.
Earlier, the chairman of the SDP electoral panel, Hon. Amba called on delegates to conduct themselves peacefully adding that he was impressed by the conduct of members of the party since the congresses started last Saturday.
Amba who led others which included Mr. Rufus Aiyenigba who served as secretary, Alhaji Affa Mohammed, National Deputy Publicity secretary, Hon. Dogara Abubakar and Hajia Saadatu Abdullahi conducted the hitch free Congresses in the state.
Before the list of the new executives was adopted, the former executive committee of the party was dissolved through a motion moved by Mr. Toyese Ojo.
Speaking, the newly elected Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Mr. Taiwo Akeju expressed his satisfaction at the conduct of the congresses that produced the executive committees at ward, local governments and State levels.
He expressed optimism that SDP will win the September 22nd governorship election in Osun State convincingly.
