Emir Advocates Special Welfare Package For Teachers

The emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Alhaji Sani Sami , has advocated for enhancement of teachers welfare and training in order to give teachers the necessary motivation and skills to perform.

The royal father stated this during a one day education retreat organised by the Kebbi State Ministry of Education in Birnin Kebbi.

He argued that often times the welfare of teachers was neglected without giving regards to their contributions in the development of education.

” Teachers today are the worst neglected civil servants everywhere”, he lamented.

Sami , although commended the Kebbi state government for embarking on renovation of public schools across the state, he, however, emphasized that it should go hand in hand with welfare of teachers to motivate them to deliver.

He said that renovation of schools by the state government should be a starting point in transforming the education sector adding that it also requires great political commitment and also suggested that unqualified teachers be sent for training and retraining under NTI programme.

Earlier,  the Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Muhammadu Magawata Aliero said that the state of education in Kebbi has improved while reiterating the commitment of State government in addressing problems bedeviling education.
