Ekiti APC Crisis: Awe Assures Of Hitch Free Primary On Friday 

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Chief Jide Awe, on Wednesday said measures have been put in place to ensure a hitch free governorship primary election on Friday.

Awe who spoke at the party secretariat in Ado-Ekiti, shortly after arriving Ado-Ekiti from Abuja, where and other had gone to meet the national officers and some leaders of the party, on the way forward following stalemated primary of the party in Ekiti State said the party will act appropriately on the incident that occurred at  its Secretariat in Ado Ekiti on Monday.

Some aggrieved members of the party, majorly, party local government chairmen, had stormed the state’s party Secretariat to protest against the members of State Working Committee of the party.

They accused them of working in connivance with opposition to destabilize the party ahead of July 14 governorship election and allegedly backing a governorship aspirant in the last Saturday botched primary election of the party.

According to Awe, “Two days ago, some miscreants who called themselves party members came to the secretariat around 9 am. They chased away our brothers who were in the office away.

“We were summoned to Abuja where we held meetings with party leaders like Chief Segun Osoba, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande and the 33 governorship aspirants. The meeting was successful. Our reschedule primary is likely to hold on Friday.

 “Ekiti APC is not divided. Those that are involved in that shameful act will be punished in accordance with the party constitution”.

He disclosed that two committees have been constituted investigate the disruption of the party’s primary and the protest at the party’s secretariat, where party workers were chased away.

“The committee set up to look into the how the party governorship primary was disrupted has been transmuted to also probe the protest at the party Secretariat. Two persons have been identified.

“The matter has reported to the police and the party chiefs. The reports of the two committees are to be submitted tomorrow and anybody found culpable would be made to face the music”.

He said fetish objects place at the entrance of the APC state Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti have been smashed and cleansed for normal activities to resume at  take place.

“We know the content and ingredients of the fetish object placed at the entrance of the party Secretariat and we have dealt with it appropriately”.

Awe, however noted that those who forcefully enter the secretariat  of the party are their members and some miscreants  who were demanding for the results of the primary that was held last Saturday.

He pointed out that he also met with the chairman of the Ekiti State APC primary and Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura, on the suspended primary scheduled to hold on Friday.
