EKSG Begins Renovation Of Primary And Secondary Healthcare Facilities
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services; Dr Oyebanji Filani disclosed that the state government has begun the renovation of primary and secondary health facilities across the state. This is part of the state government’s efforts to provide quality healthcare and service delivery.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani made the disclosure at an inter-sectoral meeting organized by the Ministry. This meeting serves as a platform to engage with the heads of all the ministry’s departments and agencies.
Dr Filani encouraged all directors present to do the best they can in their respective ministries and agencies towards ensuring that preventable deaths are considerably minimised in the state.
The commissioner stated that the present administration was committed to providing improved healthcare services in health facilities across the state.
“The state government is currently working on strategies to increase patronage and trust in public facilities. This we are doing by renovating both Primary and Secondary facilities across the state, procuring modern lifesaving equipment, deploying qualified health workers to underserved facilities as well as ensuring continuous professional development for health workers across the state”.
He appealed to Ekiti residents to present themselves for the COVID19 vaccination, stressing that it was the only way to overcome the acute phase of the pandemic.
During the meeting, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry; Mr. Akinjide Akinleye, the Permanent Secretary of the Hospital Management Board; Dr Williams Afolabi, the Permanent Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency Pharm. Bisi Arogundade as well as the Chief Medical Director, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital Prof. Kayode Olabanji commended the commissioner for the initiative describing it as the best way to improve cohesion within the MDAs and give Ekiti people the best of healthcare service.
The meeting also involved presentations from the Director Research and statistics of SPHCDA Mrs Mercy Adu, Director Nursing Services HMB, Mrs Funke Olaiya, Deputy Director Public Health Dr Olumide Obe and State Ag. Epidemiologist, Mrs Abosede Alowooye. They all gave updates on the work currently being done by their departments and they made recommendations on how best to guarantee quality healthcare in both public and private facilities across the state.
