Cleric Canvasses National Prayer Day
The Federal Government has been urged to inaugurate a national day of fasting and prayers with the purpose of interceding for the nation’s development and prosperity.
The General Overseer of The Word Bible Church International, Prophet Julius Babatunde Kumoluyi, who gave the advice said Nigeria needed aggressive- fervent prayers for the restoration of her lost glory and solution to its economic challenges and other social ills staring her in the face.
Kumoluyi who spoke in Ado Ekiti at a news Conference heralding the three-day revival tagged: “Ikole Ekiti for Christ 2016” organised by his church in conjunction with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) said setting apart such day would afford all Christians of different denominations and adherents of Islamic religion in and outside Nigeria the opportunity of praying for the country.
He said the revival, which will hold at the Elekole of Ikole Palace in Ikole Ekiti this weekend, where other notable anointed men of God and gospel singers are also billed to minister, would feature evangelism, salvation of souls, healing, deliverance from bondage and yokes, Holy Spirit impart, transformation of lives and miracles and as well as prayer for the restoration of the country’s lost glory.
The cleric, who said Nigerians’ return to God was crucial in the country’s bid to get out of its present woes and the ravaging economic recession, added that there was more need now than ever before for religious leaders to come together to pray for the nation and states.
According to him, “There is the need for cordiality among religious leaders. We have to come together – Christian leaders, pastors and prophets – for prayers. President Muhammadu Buhari should set apart a day, invite the clerics to pray for the nation.
“If the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) inaugurated by Buhari during the military regime could work, then setting apart a day of national fasting and prayer will work and have far reaching positive effects on the nation. It is necessary the President declares it for solution to the country’s woes and things will move faster in the country,” he said.
The cleric, who said God had naturally endowed the country, advised the Federal Government to make return to agriculture attractive to Nigerians through provision of the needed support and encouragement to enable farmers reap bountiful harvest and as well have marketing edge.
Kumoluyi said: “if we go back to agriculture, if there is massive investment in agriculture, all will be well with Nigeria once again and this will be the beginning of industrialisation. Investors will be attracted to set up agro-based industries and in turn create employment opportunities and boost economy”
