Champions League: Tough Draws For Chelsea, Man City

It couldn’t be tougher for Manchester City and Chelsea in the last eight of the Champions League this season because Manchester City have drawn Bayern Munich and Chelsea have drawn the holders Real Madrid.

Chelsea will be at home in the second leg against Carlo Ancelotti’s side. If you remember they played each other in the quarter-finals last season, it was a really dramatic tie. Chelsea went 3-0 up in the Bernabeu but Real Madrid came back to win it after extra-time and of course went on to win the competition.

Manchester City against Bayern Munich, the German champions, the German league leaders, one of Pep Guardiola’s former clubs. In that match, Bayern Munich will be at home in the second leg. Manchester City will have to play at home first and away in the second leg and I can also tell you that there will not be an all English final because if Manchester City and Chelsea come through those difficult ties, they will play each other in the semi-final.

There are no easy games. If you’re going to win the Champions League, you’re probably going to have to beat the very best somewhere along the line. But it could certainly have been kinder for Chelsea and Manchester City at this stage.
