Catholic Church to launch 24-hour satellite TV channel in 2017 – Official

The Catholic Church in Nigeria says arrangement is being concluded to launch a 24-hour Catholic Television Channel in 2017.
Rev. Fr. Patric Alumuku, the Director of Communications, Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, stated this in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said that as part of the arrangements, another fund raising dinner in support of the project would hold on Thursday, November 17.
According to Alumuku, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, the Archbishop of Abuja Archdiocese, will preside over the fund raising dinner.
Alumuku said: “The function will bring together top government functionaries, captains of industry, religious and business communities, leaders of thought and members of the diplomatic corps.”
He said the gathering would generate additional resources for the realisation of a 24-Hour Catholic Television Channel.
Alumuku said that the fund generated from the event would be used specifically to build a bigger television studio ahead of the 24-hour satellite transmission in 2017.
He said: “Contributions to the growth of CTV will enable the realisation of a Catholic Channel and a consequent 24-hour broadcast with purpose for evangelism and development of the society.”
According to him, the channel will also serve as a medium for the correction of the ills in the society.
Alumuku noted: “The story of the vibrant Church in Nigeria will always be told not only to Nigerians but to Africans and the rest of the world.”
