Calvin Bassey undergoes Fulham Medical Ahead Of Transfer From Ajax

Nigerian defender, Calvin Bassey, has arrived in the United States (US) to undergo medical tests ahead of a summer transfer from Ajax Amsterdam to Fulham.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano disclosed this on Thursday, an update on his initial report of Bassey’s imminent switch to Fulham last week.

“Calvin Bassey to Fulham, here we go! The Nigerian centre-back is in the US to undergo medical tests which have already been booked for today,” Romano tweeted.

“Deal agreed between clubs with Ajax to get around €21m fee, Marco Silva wants Bassey and he’s coming soon. Expectation is to get it sealed on Saturday, waiting for documents.”

Bassey looks set to join Fulham for a fee in the region of £18million (€21m) after the Premier League club reached a full agreement with Ajax of Holland.

Fulham had previously made an initial offer in writing of around £15m ($19.3m) for Bassey but the clubs have now settled on an increased sum plus a sell-on fee.

Bassey has four years left on his current contract at Ajax whom he joined for a fee of €23m from Rangers last summer. He also attracted interest from Brighton & Hove Albion before choosing Fulham.

The Nigerian international since joining Ajax has made 39 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing five further assists for the Dutch Eredivisie side.
