Sokoto Gov Signs N526bn 2025 Budget Into Law
Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has signed the 2025 appropriation bill into law, reiterating his commitment to delivering more developmental projects and improving the lives of citizens across the state.
Aliyu, speaking during the signing ceremony on Friday, described the implementation of the 2024 budget as a resounding success, emphasising his administration’s resolve to build on the achievements recorded so far.
Valued at over N526 billion, the budget allocates 66% of its funds to capital projects, signalling the governor’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth.
As he signed the budget into law, the Governor expressed confidence in his administration’s achievements, rating the implementation of the 2024 budget as a 90% success.
“In the outgoing year, we successfully executed numerous developmental projects that positively impacted the lives of our people. We are determined, In sha Allah, to sustain this momentum by bringing more dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of our citizens.
“The success of this government’s focus is on various sectors and collaborative efforts with development partners, NGOs, and civil society organisations,” the governor said.
Aliyu also reassured the public of his administration’s unwavering support in combating banditry and other criminal activities, highlighting security as a top priority in the coming year.
Expressing gratitude to the Sokoto State House of Assembly, the Governor commended lawmakers for the timely passage of the bill, describing their action as a testament to their dedication to the welfare of the people.
He also extended appreciation to the citizens for their prayers and continued support for his administration.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Tukur Bodinga, disclosed that the appropriation bill underwent thorough scrutiny to ensure it aligns with the aspirations of the electorate.
The speaker lauded the governor for his impactful governance, noting that his administration has delivered numerous dividends of democracy across the state.
He further pledged the legislature’s support for policies and programs aimed at transforming the state for the better.
The state assembly passed the N526.9bn budget on December 17, following a thorough review and consideration of the proposals.
The bill was passed during the Assembly’s plenary session after the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Abdullahi Zakari (APC-Rabah), presented the committee’s report.
