Breaking: Lieutenant Colonel, four soldiers, 14 terrorists killed in Boko Haram attack

A Lieutenant Colonel, Muhammad Abu Ali, and four soldiers were killed in an attack by members of the Boko Haram terrorist group.
However, the troops, of 119 Battalion, did not spare the Boko Haram terrorists as they killed 14 of them.
The attack was carried out at about 10pm on Friday at the location of the 119 Battalion at Mallam Fatori, northern Borno State.
Ali was the Commanding Officer of 272 Task Force Tank Battalion, which freed Baga, one of the largest towns in Borno State, from the grips of the terrorists.
His exceptional bravery and gallantry earned him accelerated promotion from the rank of Major to Lieutenant Colonel.
He was decorated by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, at Gamboru Ngala on September 9, 2015 during an operational visit.
A statement by the spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Sani Usman, said so far, the troops have recovered one General Purpose Machine Gun, seven AK-47 rifles and a large quantity of ammunition.
Usman said mopping up and exploitation are ongoing.
