OAU Inaugurate Bamire As 12th Substantive CV
The Governing Council of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife on Tuesday, inaugurated Prof Simeon Bamire, as the 12th substantive Vice-chancellor of the University, with the new Vice-Chancellor promising sustain the institution ranking as one of the best in the world.
Bamire who promised an all inclusive administration urged stakeholders especially labour unions to cooperate with his administration and make the best use of his disposition to accommodate them in decision making.
While commending his immediate predecessor Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede for his outstanding performance in office, Bamire promised to improve on his achievements.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after his inauguration, the Vice Chancellor also promised to improve the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the institution to support government funding.
His words: “I am a man of peace and I find it very difficult to move ahead if there is disunity anywhere. That is why I’m appealing to our Unions that are not in good shape to come together so that we will be able to work together as one because a house divided against itself cannot stand
“The solution to ASUU challenges is for the Union to be given the opportunity to enhance the facilities within the system and enhancing the facilities within the system requires that adequate funding is provided for education”.
Speaking earlier, the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Owelle Oscar Udoji while commending the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Ogunbodede recommended him for better offer in the service of the nation.
He charged the new Vice Chancellor to put in his best and ensure that the prevailing peace between the town and gown is sustained.
