Aregbesola, A Gift From God To Osun – Peter Babalola
Governor Rauf Aregbesola has been described as a precious gift of God to the people of Osun State.
The state Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Dr. Peter Babalola made the remark in Ikire while playing host to members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), who flagged off their annual Press Week with a Thanksgiving service held at The Apostolic Church, Molarere, Ikire.
Babalola, who lamented the undereportage of Aregbesola’s achievements, noted that Osogbo, the state capital, was a glorified local government headquarter when Aregbesola assumed leadership of the state.
According to him, the landmark transformation of the state was made possible by hardwork and total commitment of Aregbesola to the development of Osun State.
On alleged failure to pay workers salaries, Babalola said no Southwest state can claim better performance in the area of workers welfare than Osun, adding that the propaganda of half salary that is peculiar to a little fraction of the workforce is overblown.
He regretted that a large percentage of workers that are currently earning their full salaries are vanguard of half salaries to deceive innocent traders.
His words: “These workers, after being paid their salaries, give false information to market men and women that they have not been paid their salaries in order to get goods on credit”.
Elder Babalola further tasked journalists to promote the achievements of the present administration of Aregbesola in the media and ensure that residents and those outside the state were abreast of the “many achievements” of the state government.
Delivering his sermon during the Thanksgiving Service, the Pastor of the church, Apostle David Oloke, who congratulated the correspondents on their Press Week, tasked them to discharge their duties with the fear of God.
Also, the Chairman of Osun NUJ, Mr. Abiodun Olalere, while felicitating with members of the Correspondents Chapel, described them as ” pillars of Osun NUJ “, disclosing that they always stand for truth, no matter whose ox is gored.
The Chairman of the Osun NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel, Prince Hammeed Oyegbade said that the annual Press Week was to appreciate God’s goodness in the lives of the chapel members.
