8 Benue LGs On Frontline Of Insecurity – Alia
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state says eight Local Government Areas, LGAs, of the state are on the frontline of insecurity at the moment.
He assured that his administration is working hard to put an end to the menace to enable Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, return to their ancestral homes and also have farmers go back to their farms.
The Governor spoke weekend during his goodwill message at the wedding ceremony between the traditional ruler of Kunav axis of the state, Ter Kunav, HRH Nyiyongo Achiaku and his wife Betty Ayaka, held at the ECWA No.1, Makurdi.
He appealed to traditional rulers in the state not to compromise on the issue of insecurity but join hands with his government to put an end to the menace.
While expressing concern at the situation, the Governor said, “eight LGAs in Benue State are at the frontline of insecurity, but my administration is not resting on its oars to end the insecurity and return the displaced persons to their ancestral homes.”
The Governor who spoke on the achievements recorded by his government so far, disclosed of his plans to upgrade public primary schools in the state “in order to improve the quality of education giving to Benue children.”
He said his administration had prioritised the return of the state to large scale farming, assuring that “our administration will soon shift attention to the rural areas to open up feeder roads in the local communities to create access for our farmers.”
While expressing delight that he witnessed the union between his father, the Ter Kunav and the Mother of Kunav nation, the Governor congratulated the couple saying the union between man and woman was a gift from God and that “every aspect of married life points to the union with Christ.”
In his reaction, the groom and Ter Kunav thanked the Governor and members of his entourage for honouring his invitation.
