Abiodun’s Aide Bags NLC Most Distinguished Labour Support Award
The Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor and General Manager, Ogun State Public Works Agency, Engr. Akeem Babatunde Adesina has received the Most Distinguished Labour Support Award from the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ogun State Chapter.
Engr. Adesina, in company of management and staff of the agency, while playing host to members of the NLC, led by its Chairman, Comrade Ademola Benco, at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, attributed his success to Almighty God and the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for the opportunity to serve in such capacity, noting that the award would not have been possible without the support of the entire staff of the Agency.
He reiterated that the present administration had prioritised workers’ welfare through payment of over 20 months outstanding debts inherited from the last administration, regular conduct of promotion exercise, prompt payment of salaries and approving local and international training for workers, among others.
“I thank you for this honour. This Award, no doubt will spur me to do more because I don’t know anyone is watching me. I pledge to continually focus on people-oriented programmes and I pledged that this administration will continue to support the Labour activities and programme for the total benefit of Ogun State workforce”, he said.
In his remarks, Comrade Benco stated that the wardee had distinguished himself as a selfless politician and a thorough breed grassroots administrator, whose landmarks in local government administration were recognised throughout the country.
“Our hearts are gladdened by your acts of generosity and charity towards humanity. We will continue to pray for your success because your success is ours too and God Almighty will continue to give you the wisdom to navigate this life in good tides and good health”, he said
He appreciated the Governor Abiodun-led administration for various worker-friendly interventions like Peculiar Allowance, leave bonuses and completion of the Labour Secretariat, among others.
