RMD Celebrates Joke Silva At 65
Veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, celebrated actress and director Joke Silva as she clocks 65, praising her pioneering contributions to Nollywood.
RMD shared the birthday message on his verified Instagram page, ‘@mofedamijo’, describing her as his younger sister while recalling their friendship and working relationship, which has spanned more than 40 years.
He acknowledged Silva’s grief following the death of her husband and fellow veteran actor, Olu Jacobs, and celebrated her contributions to the Nigerian creative industry.
“Even as you mourn the love of your life, Uncle Jay, we are reminded of your life of grace, your dedication and your love of not just family, but your craft and your country,” RMD wrote on his Instagram page.
He described Silva’s contributions to the entertainment industry and the lives she had touched over the years as immeasurable, adding that it was a privilege to witness and celebrate the woman she had become.
Joke Silva is a veteran actress and cultural leader whose career spans the stage, television and film. She is also the co-founder of Lufodo Productions.
Her husband, Olu Jacobs, died on Sept. 16 at the age of 84.
