Man Jailed Three Months Without Option Of Fine For Stealing
An Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Modakeke has sentenced a 23-year-old man, Adeyeye Bamidele, to three-months imprisonment for stealing.
Bamidele, who resides at Iraye area, was tried on a two-count charge of housebreaking and theft, but pleaded guilty for stealing.
Delivering judgement, Magistrate Bose Awosan, noted that the convict was not remorseful and had shown that he intentionally committed the act.
Awosan said that the sentence would serve as deterrent to others, ordered that the imprisonment would be without option of fine.
Earlier, Sgt Ona Glory, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov 5, 2017 around 2 pm at Uncle D Area, Toro Road, Modakeke.
Glory said that the accused entered into the dwelling house of one Owolabi Gladys with intent to commit felony therein.
He added that the accused stole the cash sum of N36,000 that belongs to Gladys.
According to him, the offence contravened sections 383, 390 (9) and 412 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.
