11 Inmates Regain Freedom In Osun
Following an appeal by the authorities of Osun Command of Nigeria Correctional Service to Osun Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola to help some indigent inmates regain freedom, the governor has offset the fines of 11 Inmates from Ilesa and Ile-Ife facilities.
The development was an aftermath of a powerful delegation of the Ministry of Justice led by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Femi Akande to the two Correctional Centres.
Akande who was  represented by the State Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Barrister Adekemi Bello facilitated their release after offsetting the required fines said to have been paid by the governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola.
After the  payment of the stipulated  amount by the state government and backed by all the necessary official  documentations, freedom came the way of the 11 inmates  with immediate effect.
The authorities of the two Centres at both Ilesa and Ile Ife had earlier but separately approached the Governor on the urgent but important need  to assist some of the inmates, financially, in off setting the various fines levied against  them which they could not pay.
In his brief remarks, Controller of the Osun Command of the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Mr Olusola Amoran commended Governor Oyetola for his  magnanimity, which he noted, wouldn’t have come at a better time than now when the clarion call all over the Nigerian federation is for all the Correctional Centres to be decongested of its inmate.
He advised  the 11 released  inmates to see their being let off the hook of the four walls of the two Correctional Centres as another opportunity for them to be of good behaviors, maintaining that now that they are back into the larger society, they should sin no more.
