Zamfara, Katsina Bandits Fleeing To Other States, Presidency Alerts Nigerians

The Presidency, Friday, raised the alarm over massive movement of armed bandits sacked by security operatives from Katsina and Zamfara states to neighbouring states.

The Permanent Secretary, Special Services, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Dr Amina Shamaki, who raised the alarm, urged security agencies, state governments and all Nigerians to be on guard in order to halt the hoodlums from gaining access to their states.

Shamaki, who disclosed the development in Jalingo, Taraba State, when she led both federal and states security administrators to a meeting, said the massive movement of armed bandits “is an indication that those unrepentant bandits are making efforts to escalate the menace to other areas.”

She observed that some Northcentral and Southwest states had started experiencing an upsurge in kidnap incidents, saying the fleeing bandits could be behind the crime.

She admonished states presently being terrorised by armed bandits to borrow a leaf from Zamfara State government by continuously dialoguing with repentant bandits.

She noted that such engagements would go a long way to deter the bandits from moving to other states.

Shamaki, however, urged the security agencies to go the extra legitimate mile to dislodge the bandits and prevent them from actualising their dream.
