Your Visit To Plateau Afterthought, PDP Tells PMB

The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) on Tuesday described the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Plateau state where over 100 lives of Nigerians were lost as “afterthought”.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan , who stated this in Akure, Ondo state said, “the President is more interested in 2019 presidential election than governance.

“We in PDP think that responsibly, the first place that Mr. President should go to is the Plateau state, not going to commission a state project in Cross River.”

Ologbondiyan noted that the huge loss of lives in Plateau state go beyond the issue of sending Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to go and check the situation.

According to the PDP spokesman,  “the President does not care about what happened between now and 2019. He goes after votes and his personal drives is how to secure electoral victory in his ill -fated desire to return in 2019. “

Ologbondiyan said, “We cannot say that because Cross River is a PDP state and encourage Mr. President to do what is not justifiable because we want the president to do what is sensitive to the feelings of ordinary Nigerians.

“His action of going to Cross River at the expense of going to Plateau, where a huge numbers of Nigerians has been killed is to say the least is irresponsible.

“As a matter of fact, which singular project has Mr. President commissioned on behalf of Federal Government in last 2 years? , the President always going after projects like commissioning of bus stop or commissioning of borehole in another state, whereas the basic responsibilities of being in governance is protection of lives and property.

“We are witnessing a situation which is on known in our country. Our country and our nation is almost turned to a funeral parlour. We believed that that should be a concern to Mr. President not chasing after state projects for commissioning all in the game of seeking re-election in 2019.

“Nigerians are in pain over the loss of lives and the lives of a singular Nigerians is as important as a lives of hundreds of Nigerians. So, we are not going to join APC in a game of counting bags.

“That’s not of interest to us . What is of interest to us is to hold APC responsible to its promises to secure lives and properties of Nigerians .

“We are not going to sit down and start comparing the number of deaths in one part of world to another or the number of deaths that occurred during the PDP reign to what is happening in APC.

“We are concerned about the lives of ordinary Nigerians, how is protected, how is provided for how would he not end up in starvation and hunger that APC has unleashed on the country.”

Commenting on President Mohammadu Buhari statement on restructuring , Ologbondiyan disclosed that the statement was not new to them, adding that they knew from the out- set that the APC  did not mean well for Nigerians.
