Woman Bags 25 Years Imprisonment For Stealing In Osun

 Justice Yinka Aderibigbe of Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo, on Wednesday sentenced 38-year-old Toyin Raheem, to 25 years imprisonment over N4.5 million theft.

The State Prosecutor, Mr Abiodun Badiora, had told the court that the convict committed the offence on June 1st, 2018 at about 8:00am.

He explained that the convict is a staff of MTN Outlet owned by Wolid Investment Limited (MTN Partner), Osogbo.

Badiora said the convict stole the sum of N4.5 million kept in her custody and also attempted to set the business outlet ablaze.

He said that the convict’s intention was to deceive the owner of the business that the money got burnt in the building before the fire was quenched.

According to the charge sheet, the offence was contrary to sections 443(A), 390(9),1(1)(A) and punishable under section 1(3) of the Advance Free Fraud of Related Offenses Act 2006 and the Criminal Code CAP 34 Vol. 11, laws of Osun, 2003.

Counsel to the convict, Mr Abdulfatai Abdulsalam, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing his client.

He said the convict is a first time offender and has learnt his lesson.

Justice Aderibigbe thereby sentenced her to 25 years imprisonment.
