Woman, 35, Jailed 6 months For Stealing Laptop In Osun

For stealing a Laptop valued at N45,000, an Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo Wednesday sentenced a 35-year-old woman, Nafisat Raji, to six months imprisonment.
The presiding Magistrate, Adenike Olowolagba, who convicted Raji, sentenced her to six months’ imprisonment to serve as deterrent to others who may have like minds.
Earlier while briefing the court, the prosecutor, Inspector Joshua Oladoye told the court that Raji, on the 30th of August, 2017, at about 11:30p.m at Akeju street, opposite  Government Technical College, Osogbo, stole one HP Pavilion Laptop belonging to one Mubarak Olaboopo, valued at forty five thousand naira (N45,000).
He added that the accused, on the same date, at about 12:30 p.m at Fayemi Street, Osogbo, also stole aTechno Y6 mobile phone of one Deborah Akindele, valued at fourteen thousand, five hundred naira (N14,500).
Prosecutor Oladoye stated that the offences committed by Raji  contravened sections 412 and 383 and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
Weeping profusely in the dock, the accused pleaded guilty of the charges preferred against her.
Her Counsel, Barrister Nagite Okobe, humbly urged the court to be lenient in justice as Raji had pleaded guilty of the offences.
The presiding magistrate however granted the convict an option of N3,000 fine.
