Wike Approves Construction Of Kuje-Sabo-Yenche-Rubochi Road

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has given the approval for the construction of the Kuje-Sabo- Yenche- Rubochi Road. The Minister stated this in response to requests by Kuje residents at the Stakeholders’ Meeting of members of the Rainbow Coalition in Kuje Area Council on Friday October 23, 2026.

Highlighting infrastructure milestones made possible through President Tinubu’s funding approvals, the FCT Minister assured stakeholders that phase two of the Kuje to Gwagwalada road project will be completed and commissioned by December 2026, significantly improving regional connectivity. He added that additional road construction requests submitted by Kuje stakeholders will be addressed systematically.

He further advised electorates in the FCT not to be misled by political figures he described as “shady  people” who only pretend to identify with the masses during electioneering periods.

The Minister urged residents to look beyond political rhetoric, evaluate candidates based on genuine track records, and vote massively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

“You have seen a government that is working, and you want to try and change it? Nobody makes that mistake”, the Minister asserted.

In a direct critique of key opposition figures, the FCT Minister cautioned voters against supporting candidates whose humility and public engagements are calculated pre-election stunts.

Directly addressing  the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi, the Minister questioned his sudden public appearances in local markets and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, dismissing it as a political showmanship. He urged residents not to repeat the mistake of 2023.

“When they are contesting for President, they go to Kuje market and you say, ‘Oh, he is humble.’ Ask him, when he was governor, did he go to the market? Ask him, when he was governor, did he go to an IDP camp to celebrate his birthday?” Wike stated. “Now you (Obi) want to be President, you go and do a birthday at an IDP camp and we say this man is humble! What humility is that? He just wants to play you ‘wayo’. The moment he enters, he will show you pepper!

The Minister also took a swipe at the Vice Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, challenging him to account for public resources allocated to major projects during his tenure as Governor of Rivers State.

“My former governor—the one who said he fumigated Rivers State for N10 billion so mosquitoes wouldn’t bite again… Up till now, mosquitoes still bite us in Rivers. Now he says he wants to be your Vice President; is he going to fumigate Nigeria?”, Wike questioned.

The Minister further criticized Amaechi over a non-existent 1,000-bed hospital project after paying N53 billion to contractors and the stalled N68 billion Rivers monorail project, urging Nigerians not to entrust the nation’s leadership to individuals with questionable project execution records.

Addressing legislative representation in the nation’s capital, the Minister reiterated that FCT voters made an error in 2023 by electing the current Senate representation, whom he accused of neglecting the electorate, traditional institutions, and the needs of local communities, insisting that the mistake will not be repeated.

He called on the residents to rally around former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda, alongside other National Assembly candidates under the Rainbow Coalition who have sufficiently demonstrated love for the people.

“Aduda knows them—when they are crying and when they are sleeping. That is the essence of representation”, Wike emphasized. “We cannot make a mistake and give our destiny to political gamblers. You cannot joke with your destiny now. We know where we are going”, he added.

Explaining the guiding philosophy of the Rainbow Coalition—which brings together politicians from different political parties—the Minister noted that the alliance has ditched political party rivalry for the interest of the FCT: “What is a party? A party is the vehicle that takes you to your destination. When you get to your destination, you come down and do your business. For the interest of peace in Kuje, and the FCT, we believe we should not be fighting ourselves. Whoever goes there does so for the interest of Kuje and the FCT”.

Earlier in his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, expressed gratitude to the FCT Minister for appointing a Kuje indigene as Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and praised the administration’s transformative projects across the council. He pledged to mobilize Kuje voters for President Tinubu and all Rainbow Coalition legislative candidates.

FCT All Progressives Congress Chairman, Hon. Tanko Yamawo, on his part also commended the Minister’s infrastructure drive and the harmonious political atmosphere in the FCT, stating, “Today we eat in the same pot with the PDP because the Minister has told us that partnership brings results. We are going to deliver the FCT come January 16, 2027”.

In the same vein, the FCT PDP Chairman, Ismaila Mohammed hailed the Minister for uniting former political rivals under one banner, describing him as a responsible leader who restored hope to Kuje. He confirmed that a marching order had been given to PDP members to support President Tinubu and Rainbow Coalition candidates.

Representatives of Traditional institutions as well as Women, and Youth Groups equally passed votes of confidence in the current administration for inclusive governance and rural development, pledging maximum turnout at the polls.

Highlight of the interactive meeting was the announcement by the PDP Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates, Angulu Bako and Ahmed Dogara Jacob, respectively, to step down and support their APC counterparts.

Other dignitaries present during the high-profile event included the APC National Vice Chairman, South South, Chief Victor Giadom, Chairman Senate Committee on Works, Allwell Onyesoh, Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Zonal Secretary, North Central, APC, Yakubu Adamu, Chairmen of the six Area Councils of the FCT, former Senator representing the FCT, Senator Jibrin Wowo, Senator Isa Maina, among other rainbow coalition candidates, members and other critical stakeholders.
