Don’t De-market UNIOSUN On Social Media, VC Warns Matriculating Students
The Vice Chancellor, Osun State University, (UNIOSUN), Prof. Odúnayo Clement Adebooye has cautioned matriculating students of the institutions not to de-market the institution through the abuse of the privilege provided by the social media.
Addressing the matriculating students at the 15 Matriculation ceremony held on Wednesday at UNIOSUN, Osogbo Adebooye urged them to in their best interest explore the opportunity provided by the medium to project the university adding that it would enhance the image of the university.
“If you de-market the University on social media, you’re doing the University serious harm, you are also de-marketing yourselves because the society and the labor market will regard you as products of a University with bad reputation.
While congratulating the matriculants, the VC disclosed that no fewer than 6,000 candidates applied for admission for the academic session adding that they should count themselves fortunate to be offered admission.
He implored them to obey all the rules and regulations of the University, and shun any act of drug abuse, cultism, examination malpractice, thuggery, truancy and sexual harassment adding that students who are found guilty of any of these offences would face sanctions which may include summary dismissal..
Assuring them of quality education, Prof. Adebooye noted that the university can boast of an array of erudite lecturers and seasoned non-teaching staff who put in maximum effort to shape students not only intellectually, but also morally.
He added that the institution commissioned six 104 capacity students’ hostels across the campuses. “Being the first time a lot of you would be leaving the confines of your parent’s homes, we know that exuberance and peer pressure could distract you from the reason you are in higher institution.
“Therefore, as parents and managers of human resources, we decided to provide accommodation for most new students under proper supervision and guidance of experienced Hall Wardens” the Vice Chancellor posited.
